Claire L. Bullis (Phelps)
Wenham - Claire L. (Phelps) Bullis 85, beloved wife of Neil K. Bullis, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Eveleen (Colclough) Phelps. She received her education in the Lynn school system and graduated from Lynn English High School.
As a young woman, Mrs. Bullis had been employed as a bookkeeper for Lynn Gas Company and Ernie’s Service Station in Peabody.
A resident of Wenham for the past forty five years, Mrs. Bullis was an avid reader and was accomplished at crocheting, knitting and needlepoint. Claire and her husband enjoyed doing puzzles together as well as camping and traveling across the country as they toured the U.S. and Canada. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband with whom she shared sixty five years of marriage, she is survived by three daughters, Susan L. Cassidy and her husband, John of Georgetown, Cynthia Rubenfeld and her husband, Louis of Newbury and Cheryl Gauthier and her husband, Mark of Lynn, one son, Neil K. Bullis Jr. and his wife, Mary Ann of Hudson, fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many longtime relatives and friends. She was also the sister of the late Ernest Phelps Jr.
Family and Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, February 19th from 2-5 p. m. at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20th at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Swampscott Cemetery.
