Uncle Gene

Uncle Gene was terrific. He was down-to-earth; sensible; funny and loving. He was welcoming, warm and hospitable. I remember him learning a few words of Chinese when he came to visit in Taiwan.

Uncle Gene and Aunt Mary wanted to meet the ordinary folks....so we walked in on a grandmother who was caring for an infant grandchild; and we went to the rice growing areas and met a family where the young man was paralzyed due to a motorcycle accident. It was thrilling to have them visit the mission land

and meet some of the people. Uncle Gene made connections with his friendly mien and warmth.

I recall visiting the family while studying in the Boston area; and, most recently, I was blessed again

to meet Uncle Gene in Sept of this year; along with Mary Ellen Karen Brynn and Donald. We had a lunch together prepared by Aunt Mary..... a friendly, warm, enjoyable last family visit together.

Rest in Peace Uncle Gene. You are missed enormously.
